Alt-J planning to record new album this year - video interview

Alt-J say they have begun work on a follow-up to their Mercury Prize-winning debut, but won’t be rushing things.

Speaking in a video interview you can watch above, the band say they are working on ideas and will begin on the new record in earnest in October… but it might take them a while.

“When we did the first album we were students at university and did it because we enjoyed it. So we had three years with no pressure,” explained Gwil Sainsbury.

“Obviously we’re in the completely opposite position now. We should have the same approach and take it slowly like we did before. Who know we might be really good now, but it used to take us a long time.
