Vancouver singer-songwriting hero Dan Mangan has just released his fourth album Club Meds (listen below) with backing band Blacksmith, and is set to tour in the UK this spring, kicking dates off at Manchester’s The Deaf Institute on 24 April. He dealt with a few posers from us.
WHO would play you in the film of your life?
One time, during the Vancouver Olympics, a dude asked if I was Seth Rogen. Obviously, I said yes.
WHAT are you currently working on?
I’m in Germany. There’s a fire or something in the hotel. The cops are here. Everyone is in the bar on the main floor. Beer sales are quite good.
WHY do you do that thing you do?
I think art of any form allows us to convey ideas and feelings that language fails to. Aside from the fact that it’s really fun, I think that’s the simplest answer.
WHERE do you see yourself in ten years?
Hopefully not in this hotel anymore. I’m jet lagged and I want to take a nap but this fire alarm is really loud. And there’s a really disconcerting announcement going on in German but I don’t speak German. Beer sales are still good.
WHEN will there be a harvest for the world?
I think it’s scheduled for some time in 2017. I’ll have to check my iCal.
