Editors are among the acts shaping up to play Paris’ premier musical festival Rock en Seine. Ahead of their date in the French capital frontman Tom Smith and keyboard player Elliott Williams answer five question for us.

WHO would play you in the film of your life?

Tom Smith: It’d be animated. Maybe that dude who does Gollum and the monkeys and all that. James Earl Jones does the voice though.

Elliott Williams: Paul Dano, we bear a slight resemblance to each other and I’m sure he could navigate my character very well. It’s all in the eyes. Stylistically I would like it to be Jim Jarmusch and Jim Henson in equal measures.

WHAT are you currently working on?

TS: New songs for Editors6. After the summer we’ll get together to knock em into shape. It’s early days but we’ve already got a decent amount of ammunition.

EW: We’re just about to head into festival season and will be premiering a new song. We’re really looking forward to playing Rock en Seine because it’s a prestigious festival with a great history. Hopefully the sun will be sun-shining and it will be a great atmosphere. We’re also starting to get our heads into the vibes of a new record after the summer. Personally I’ve been producing electronic music which I hope will see the light of day in the near future and doing a series of online DJ mixes which you can hear here.

WHY do you do that thing you do?

TS: Find the thing you’re good at and do it for as long as possible. I think that’s from a slushy film, but it’s decent life advice.

EW: Hard to say, I’ve always done it. Music is the closest thing I have to God or a religion. It’s how I make sense of life and this universe we find ourselves in. Somewhere in it is the answers and I’ll just keep digging.

WHERE do you see yourself in ten years?

TS: Grammys, Brits, Oscars, Mercurys the lot. It’s gonna be fucking mental.

EW: Hopefully we will prepping another record and still touring the world. I still feel this band has a lot left to offer and while that desire continues so should we. I’d also like to start my own record label and open a bar/restaurant.

WHEN will there be a harvest for the world?

EW: Probably not in my lifetime unfortunately! If monetary currency and politics as we know it crumbles, then there might be a glimmer of hope.

TS: There won’t be.
