DFA stalwart The Juan Maclean release new album In A Dream on Monday (15 September), complete with vocals from LCD Soundsystem’s Nancy Whang. We set him five questions to clarify matters.
WHO would play you in the film of your life?
Woody Harrelson. For starters, we look a lot alike. And to be clear, I’m talking about True Detective Woody Harrelson, not Cheers!
WHAT are you currently working on?
Since my album is finished and about to be released, I’m getting back into working on 12-inchess. Also have a couple of things under a different name I’m getting started, returning to my early techno roots.
WHY do you do that thing you do?
Because I can’t do anything else, and if I didn’t do it, I probably wouldn’t have much interest in going on living.
WHERE do you see yourself in ten years?
Doing what I’m doing now, wondering how much longer I could possibly do it, making the transition from being old enough to be a lot of people in the club’s father to being old enough to be their grandfather.
WHEN will there be a harvest for the world?
Never. With the timetable we are on now, humans will have rendered themselves extinct due to their treatment of the planet and their inability to control their incessant breeding long before evolving far enough for worldwide peace or whatever.
