Glasgow’s Honeyblood are set to release their self-titled debut on Monday (14 July), before heading out on tour later this year (dates kick off at Stirling’s Tolbooth on 11 September). To celebrate the band’s Stina Tweeddale has paid tribute to her influences with a Playlist of songs from the 1990s with guitar lines that make you go “Yee-Ha!”

The Breeders – Do You Love Me Now?

“This is my favourite Breeders song, and probably in my top three songs of all time. Basically, It’s one of the reasons our band exists. There you go, I’ve said it. Thanks Deal Sisters.”

Supergrass – Lose It

“This album reminds me of being a kid. I was so sad when Supergrass called it a day, they should get back together.”

Smashing Pumpkins – Drown

“Probably one of my favourite guitar riffs ever.”

Weezer – In The Garage

“We listen to a lot of this album on tour still. I sneaked back stage at a Weezer show once and touched Rivers Cuomo on the back. Still one of my proudest moments.”

Bratmobile – Love Thing

“Out of all the riot grrrl stuff, Bratmobile are my favourite. They have such energy and fun about them. It get’s you jumping and punching each other.”

“Polly Jean is the Queen of 90s guitar tunes, right? This was the first PJ album I heard so it has a special place in my heart. Understated and powerful, you know she means business.”

“No 90s disco is complete without a little Suede.”

Pavement – Gold Soundz

“It’s difficult to choose a favourite Pavement song. This one had an impact but so did a lot of others. I might choose this as my 90’s guitar tune karaoke song.”

Blur – End Of Century

“I love Parklife. So many good songs but this one really gets me.”
