Spain’s Festival Internacional de Benicassim celebrates its 20th birthday this year (17-20 July). Having mixed camping near the beach and music the event is as popular with people having a holiday as it is with local music fans. Organiser Vince Power presents his picks from the 2014 line-up.

Paul Weller – Broken Stones

“Paul has played at several of my festivals over the years and I have never tired of listening to him – to me The Modfather is the ideal choice to play our 20th anniversary special.”

Kasabian – L.S.F.

“To me all of Kasabian’s songs are perfect for the stage but to me this is a festival anthem and I can imagine the whole crowd singing this back to them.”

Chase And Status – Count On Me

“I have never seen the FIB crowd go as mad as they did when Chase and Status played at the festival a few years back – their sound and energy is just perfect for Benicassim.”

James – Sit Down

“I have seen James manage to get a whole festival crowd to sit down before continuing with this song – here’s hoping they will be able to get 30,000 to play along this year.”

Manic Street Preachers – You Stole The Sun From My Heart

“There is not one song of theirs you won’t know – each and every song of theirs is a classic and their set will be an en-mass sing-along.”

M.I.A – Come Walk With Me

“She is often spoken about as being a controversial artist, but that’s exactly why I like her, I love her individuality – there hasn’t been anything like her before, her style is very distinctive.”

Klaxons – Gravity’s Rainbow

“As the inventors of Nu-Rave, Klaxons’ songs are incredibly recognisable. The hotly anticipated new album from the Klaxons is sure to be a hit and these tracks, along with their more famous songs, will be remarkable to see and hear.”

Jake Bugg – Taste It

“For a young boy from Nottingham, Jake has really seen success over the last couple of years – and I don’t think it’s about to stop any time soon.”

Sub Focus – Turn Back Time

“DJs like Sub Focus are made for Benicassim, their music is just so perfectly suited for dancing the night away to on a balmy Spanish evening in July.”

Ellie Goulding – Burn

“Some people are just meant to be to perform and be on stage – and when you see Ellie perform you will know what exactly I mean.”
