Two festivals… four headliners – Arctic Monkeys, Blink 182 plus Queens Of The Stone Age and Paramore sharing duties – the 2014 Reading & Leeds Festival is taking shape. For a guide to the annual meeting of tribes this summer (22-24 August), we asked Reading & Leeds Festival’s Music Booker Jon Mac to make us a Playlist with his picks from this year’s line-up (even if he booked them himself!)…

Arctic Monkeys – Do I Wanna Know?

“A band that need no introduction. We’ve wanted them back for a while and with their fantastic new album the time feels totally right. This is my favourite track from AM.”

Blink 182 – When I Was Young

“One of the best live bands around. It’s easy to forget they have a huge back catalogue. The best in their genre by far!”

Jake Bugg – Slumville Sunrise

“One of the best songs from his latest album Shangri La, Jake has grown up at Reading & Leeds.”

Warpaint – Love Is To Die

“Their self-titled album from last year had plenty of gems but this track is my favourite.”

SBTRKT – Hold On (Ft Sampha)

“Can’t wait to hear the new material, but this will do for now. Sampha’s a star in waiting and this track brings production and voice together perfectly. It will go off at Reading & Leeds.”

Of Mice & Men – Second And Sebring

“This is from their 2010 album but the new album is also great. Watch this lot in 2014, already HUGE in the US.”

Pusha T – Sweet Serenade

“From Kanye’s GOOD music label and mates with Chase & Status. This guy will get bigger and better and this song is a great showcase for his skills. Check out his solo music, you will not be disappointed.”

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Can’t Hold Us

“An important artist and one who people too easily discredit. This track is huge and they will be one of the surprise hits of Reading & Leeds.”

Foster The People – Coming Of Age

“They’re back and the new album is sounding fantastic. These guys will be bigger and better than last time!”

Nero – Promises

“A monster hit at the time. We’ve heard their new material and it is better and more rounded than anything else they’ve done. One to watch!”

Arctic Monkeys – I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor

“Them again! A modern classic. If you don’t know every word for this song you have been living under a rock for the last decade!”
