Who? Valerie’s friend, leader of The Zutons.
Why now? The Zutons frontman has an solo record on the way via 1965 Records, and here’s an exclusive preview of the first track to come from it. “I wanted to do something that wasn’t a guitar record,” says McCabe of his solo direcion. “There’s loads of music I’ve always been into, things like Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Human League, more electronic stuff that was totally different to what we did in the Zutons. I wanted to do my own version of a Grand Theft Auto soundtrack basically.” He plays a trio of dates with his band The Ramifications in May at London’s Electrowerkz (20), Manchester’s Deaf Institute (23) and Liverpool’s Sound City (24).
