Just when the wives of Rush fans thought it was safe to turn on the television, noted bassist Geddy Lee has announced that – in addition to his upcoming memoir, My Effin’ Life, which lands in bookstores on November 14 – he’ll be hosting a new Paramount+ docuseries.
The four-part program is entitled Geddy Lee Asks: Are Bass Players Human Too? and is set to drop on December 5 in the U.S. and Canada. Don’t worry if you live outside of North America, though: the series will land the following day in the U.K., Australia, Latin America, Brazil, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.

Lee fans may recall that he released his first book, Geddy Lee's Big Beautiful Book of Bass, back in 2018, but whether you do or don’t, all that matters is that you're aware that the preceding tome was the impetus for this new series.
“The idea for this show was born out of interviews I did for my first book,” Lee said in a press release. “I was struck that these accomplished musicians also lived incredibly interesting, multifaceted lives offstage. Who knew bass players were so effin’ human?”

The series is a joint production of MTV Entertainment Studios and Banger Films, and it finds Lee bouncing around to the homes of various other bass players, including Melissa Auf de Maur (Hole, Smashing Pumpkins), Les Claypool (Primus), Krist Novoselic (Nirvana), and Rob Trujillo (Metallica).
One can only presume that if the series proves to be a smash hit, it won’t take much in the way of nudging to get Lee to venture forth and interview another four – or more – of his bass-playing peers.
In addition, Lee will be hitting the road in November and December for "My Effin' Life in Conversation," a spoken-word tour that also provides him with the opportunity to promote his new memoir. The tour dates for the U.S., Canada, and the UK are below.
